About To Write Art
Many people fall in love with art. In their pursuit of expanding their creativity, they enter art schools, take private classes, learn online, or experiment on their own. Traditional art education provides the foundations essential for artistic success — composition, anatomy, light and shadow, diverse mediums, art history, and contemporary practice. This knowledge is invaluable.
But what happens after these foundations are mastered? What happens when technique is no longer the obstacle, but creating something original becomes the limitation?
This is where the gap appears — not in skill, but in conscious thought.
To Write Art was created to address what traditional education cannot. Our programs do not teach you how to make art. They teach you how to think and challenge what art could be. They ask questions most courses avoid. They explore territories most curricula fear. They expand perception, not through instruction, but through confrontation with ideas that have no single answer.
Every student engages differently because there is no prescribed outcome. Our programs are designed for self-exploration in the truest sense — you will not find what we want you to find. You will find what you are willing to see. We broaden artistic perception by challenging it. We encourage students to record not just what they observe but what they question, value, and experience. We guide them to transform not observation into form, but reflection and self into creation.
All To Write Art programs are self-directed education — but is this approach the right fit for you?
Self-directed education is not for everyone and never will be. However, for those who are ready, it can hold a value far beyond what words can express or what traditional education alone can offer. It can be a powerful resource for self-discovery and imaginative exploration.
Working independently allows you to engage with your own ideas and reflections without distraction. You can express or confront yourself in ways that feel honest and true to you. It provides a space where you are not comparing yourself to others or being swayed or influenced by their opinions, mindset, or actions.
Self-directed education exists for those who learn differently, for those who have never quite fitted the conventional mould, or for those who simply thrive when given the freedom to work independently. It allows people to work at their own pace and move in their own direction without needing to constantly explain themselves or justify their choices. It can open doors and create a safe space for people who experience social anxiety, medical conditions, are neurodivergent, or face other challenges that make traditional education difficult or unsuitable at a particular time. It allows them to fulfil their creative desires in an environment not designed by society, but designed by themselves.
While some of us are open to sharing our experiences and views with the world, not everyone feels the need to do so, or is ready. Most of all, not all of us learn or create in the same ways. Some progress rapidly, overcoming obstacles with remarkable momentum; others stumble, slow down, hit brick walls, and sometimes feel like giving up. Self-directed education is not a hiding place — it exists for those who need it, now or at a particular moment in their lives. It is a domain that does not point a finger at differences but embraces them; a territory that does not strip people of their dreams but guides them towards them at the pace they need, not the speed society dictates.
What works for some will not work for others, and may not even work for you at different stages of life. Self-directed education is not for everyone, but for the right people, at the right time, it can become a sanctuary — a place to explore, to conquer, and to move forward.
The Programs
To Write Art currently offers three 12-month programs: Perception, Non-Human Art, and Art Intersections.
Each program can be explored individually, in any order, or studied as a complete journey. All three provide unconventional concepts, creative tasks, reflective processes, and philosophical approaches designed to expand consciousness and deepen artistic thinking.
Our Programs
Perception — Teaches students to see and feel in new ways
Non-Human Art — Removes human-centred creative limitations
Art Intersections — Explores the hidden systems and frameworks that influence art
Ultimate Goals
Expand creativity beyond conventional boundaries
Develop an authentic artistic voice through self-discovery
Understand art as a multidimensional exploration of thought
Build resilience and confidence within the creative process
Create work that reveals how the artist thinks, not simply what the artist has been taught

Who We Are?
To Write Art is an independent art education initiative based in Melbourne, Australia, founded in 2025. It is not affiliated with any government body, university, or institution, and receives no government funding.
We intentionally keep the focus off ourselves. Our choice is deliberate: This program is about you, not us. We don't want students to imitate our thoughts, methods, or style. We don't want you to form an image of us or create art to earn our approval. Instead, we want you to forget about us and discover your own voice. Our goal is for every student to think independently, explore fearlessly, and create with conscious purpose.
To Write Art is a hybrid — an artwork of its own kind, a literature in its own right, and an unconventional approach to art education.
