What is Self Check-In?

Self Check-In Information
To Write Art programs are designed for students who are serious and passionate about art. We believe in adult learning principles — encouraging independence, self-direction, and personal responsibility. While our programs are structured for independent study, we are always here to support our students' needs. We also aim for the learning experience to extend beyond the content of each topic. That's why the Self Check-In is such a valuable tool: it helps students gain deeper insight into themselves and their personal growth throughout the creative journey.
Before beginning your chosen program, students are given the option to participate in a weekly Self Check-In via our online portal. While participation is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged. The Self Check-In questionnaire typically includes five questions and takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
The Self Check-In involves receiving one reflective email per week for the duration of their time in the program. Each week, students will respond to the same set of questions. While this may sound repetitive at first, even minor changes in answers can reveal unexpected patterns in thinking, creative development, and personal insight over time.
Some students may feel confident working independently at their own pace, while others may experience moments of uncertainty, confusion, or a sense of disconnection from the To Write Art community. The Self Check-In portal offers a dedicated space for weekly reflection on personal development and creative progress.
To Write Art usually does not comment on the Self Check-In questionnaire (unless students are raising specific issues). If students are submitting weekly, they will most likely not receive comments, feedback, or follow-up questions. This space is intended for students to express their thoughts, reflections, and feelings freely.
For any interactive discussions regarding artistic direction, creative thoughts, or personal experiences, students are encouraged to write directly to towriteart@hotmail.com. The Self Check-In space is treated as an artist’s expression space only.
End-of-Year Evaluation
At the end of your 12-month program, To Write Art will collect and review the responses submitted through the Self Check-In to create a personalised evaluation for each participating student. This evaluation provides valuable insight into how each student works, manages their time, explores ideas, and identifies the strategies that work best for them — as well as highlighting areas for growth. All information remains confidential and will not be shared with others unless permission is granted.
Important Notes
Participation in the Self Check-In is optional. However, to receive an accurate end-of-year evaluation, students must begin the process from the start of their program and complete the short weekly questionnaire consistently. The Self Check-In is completed online, and weekly reminders will be sent to help students stay on track with their progress and experience.
How It Works
Weekly Self Check-In emails are sent every Wednesday at 3pm and include a link to 5 short questions, taking approximately 5–10 minutes to complete.
Participation is entirely voluntary. Students may opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us at towriteart@hotmail.com.
